AI INVASION



You’ve recently learned that AI is about to take over every job by 2071. Your first reaction was pure disbelief. Then, you went into denial: “Machines would never teach, heal, translate, drive, cook, design, analyze, think, feel, etc.”. A few days passed and you heard that Uber was testing autonomous vehicles…. s-u-c-c-e-s-s-f-u-l-l-y. A month later, you found out Siri handled basic questions… w-e-l-l. Soon after, the news kept pouring - "AI can translate"… "hotels and banks use robots in lieu of staff"… "a major corporation replaces middle management with… robots (employees reported no difference in attitude!)". So, now you figure may be some of those projections might turn out to be true after all. True or not, you’ve decided to get ready for 2071. You’ve been paying close attention to your Economics teacher, Mr. Matt Botcheff, and so, by now you are well aware that through the stock market you could profit from predicting the future. So, now you’ve decided to pick a publicly-traded company that would benefit the most from the rise of AI. 


 You have the opportunity to share with the class your pick along with a brief explanation as to why you think that company would gain from the rise of AI. Each participant gets to vote. The winner, e.g. the person with the most votes, of this contest will tell the class how he/she made his choice.

Voting for the best entry in the contest AI Invasion will take place in class in January 2019.

    Company: Google
    Why Google?- Because this is one of the biggest media companies in the last 14 years and it has access to huge amounts of information and resources which will enable them to fund their AI researches. Furthermore, Google is widely known as a company offering innovative decisions.
    My interest in Google came from an article which described the AI impact challenge that the media group started in October 2018. Participants in this project will be awarded up to 25 million dollars for solutions to big issues like environmental concerns and health care problems which implement Artificial intelligence.This ensures that Google will find talent and open-minded people outside the Silicon Valley.
    That's why I believe that Google would be the next Artificial intelligence leader on a worldwide scale.

      My suggestion is that the million - dollar company of one of the richest people on earth - Elon Musk - Tesla would enormously benefit from the so called AI Invasion. Tesla is a leader in the electric vehicle market, which is widely recognized as a 'tech pioneer with a significant interest in the race to build and market autonomous vehicles' Musk`s company has gained huge popularity in the past few years and it is expected that it`s stock prices would significantly increase as it would widely benefit from the rise of AI. In January the CEO of Tesla - Elon Musk publicly announced that the company "is working on its own AI hardware." The multi - billionaire is also the co - founder of " OpenAI", which is a research organization 'dedicated to ensuring that AI is developed and deployed in a safe, manageable way so as to minimize any existential risk robots may one day pose to humanity.' I strongly reccomend and suggest that Tesla INC. would benefit from the AI invasion, because Tesla does not only develop autonomus vehicles, it also works towards building a safer environment in which robots and AI would eventually rule one day.

      As a owner of a small, but vastly developing e - commerece online apparel store, I would suggest that Microsoft, which is another vastly recognized and multi- million dollar company would strongly benefit from the AI Invasion. The company states : "Microsoft AI is not a product that comes in a box. It is our vision to empower every developer, organization and individual to innovate and transform the world with AI." Microsoft is literally aiming at incorporating robots, virtual reality and AI through its program called MIcrosoft Hololens which started few years ago. The Hololens are special glassess, which combine the virtual reality with our environment. I believe Microsoft would not only benefit from the AI rise, but it`s stock price would certainly increase.
